Welcome to Miss Wright’s

2nd Grade Class!!

Welcome 2nd graders! I am looking forward to a fun-filled year of learning.  You are going to become Ross Cats and learn how to use PAW Power!

Some of the interesting things we will learn include; Life Cycles of Insects, Balancing and Weighing, wonderful weekly stories out of our MacMillan-McGraw Hill Treasures reading series and exploring new math adventures in our Trailblazers lessons.  You will also create writing pieces based on The Life Cycle of a Painted Lady Butterfly, your favorite relative and Snow Day Adventures.

Along with the learning inside our classroom, you will have to continue some learning at home as well.  I feel homework is extra practice for you and it should not take up your entire night.  Your homework responsibilities will include:

Monday SPELLING- On Monday I will write my new list and learn the

phonics rule for the week.  At home I will write each word 3 times.  Then I

will choose 5 words from the list and write 5 SUPER sentences of at least

7 words in length.

Tuesday

ACCELERATED MATH- I will complete my individual math practice and carefully fill in my scan card.

Wednesday

READING- I will read my assignment and answer comprehension questions using complete sentences with details from the story.

Thursday

STUDY- for my spelling test.

Friday

I will take my spelling test and bring it home for my parents to sign over the weekend.  I will remember to bring it to school on Monday for the teacher to check.

Along with your daily homework, I encourage you to read your AR books for at least 15 minutes.  Each night you will also get your agenda book signed by a parent or guardian.  The agenda book will be one source of communication that I will use to keep in touch with your parents.

*Parents- please feel free to write me a note in the agendas if you have a concern or question.  You may also contact me through email and by phone at 422-1640. I look forward to working with you as a team to help your child succeed in their education.

See you in August! Get ready for a WONDERFUL year!
