Welcome to Mrs. Rowe’s

Third Grade Class!

Wow!  This school year has really been flying by!  I can't believe this much time has gone by.  We are having a great school year.  The students are working so hard and I am very proud of them.  Keep up the great work team!

What to expect in third grade:

·       We will be learning reading strategies and reading stories through the Macmillan McGraw Hill Reading Series.  You can review the weekly stories with us, if you choose to, and play the learning games at their website: http://activities.macmillanmh.com.

·       In our Trailblazers math series, you will be learning more challenging techniques using the TIMS laboratory method in addition and subtraction.  We will look more at multiplication at the end of the year. 

·       In science, our class will be studying some exciting areas: The Human Body, Water, and Earth Materials.  Our field trips will be connected to what we learn in these areas. 

Homework Expectations:

·       Students will be expected to read for at least 20 minutes on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.  A parent signature will be needed in your agenda book stating that you read.   AM packs will be sent home on Tuesdays and Thursdays to be completed and sent in the following day. 

·       I will be issuing homework packs this year.  Each homework pack will be issued out on Mondays and will be due on Fridays.  I will be happy to help with any homework confusions before the due date. 

·       Each Thursday, I will be sending home a big envelope filled with your graded papers and/or work completed during that particular week.  Papers are to be viewed by a parent or guardian and replaced back in the envelope where a signature is needed stating that you viewed the papers.  The envelope must be turned in the next day (Friday) with all papers inside.
