Parents/Guardians I hope this web page will assist you in understanding the expectations for this year 2007/2008.  Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns at my school/home email:  wmpaulrobbins@yahoo.com

Mission For The Class

Our Mission will be to be prepared for the promotion academically and socially to the Middle School and to have the tools to successfully take the Delaware State Test. Always do the best you can with the abilities you have. Learn and practice responsibily. You are your own person...make good decisions! The major emphasis in the Lulu Ross School is...THE STUDENT FIRST!

Homework: (Come to this site to see daily assignments)

No current assignments.  The beginning of the new school year bring (3) two liter soda bottles for the science study on Ecosystems.  Do not wash the bottles with soap.

A list of needed materials can be picked up at Lulu Ross Elem. office or at Walmart when supply lists are posted.

First marking period I will check the agenda book for recorded assignments and request for parents to sign the agenda book nightly after looking over your child's work. Please make sure the reading log is signed as assigned.

The beginning of the second marking period on I will not be signing the agenda book or checking on it daily.  Notes from parents need to be brought to the teacher's attention at the beginning of the day by the student.  The agenda book will now become the responsibility of the student and parents to check. Assignments will continue to be written on the board to be copied. Parents please look for the agenda book nightly.

I am going to send home a monthly progress report and data binder to all parents to keep you informed of your child's progress.

My classroom door is always open to visitors. I would appreciate one days notice to let the office know you might be visiting. Use the email on this website to contact me...I check it at home.

If you would like to volunteer in assisting within the classroom please contact me.

About The Teacher

This is my 35 year teaching.  I am planning to retire after this school year and focus on (art) painting.  I earned my bachelors degree from Edinboro University, Pennsylvania and my masters degree from the University of Delaware. I have 2 grown children and 5 grandchildren. My experiences include teaching for Cape Henlopen as a special education/regular teacher for 8 years, teaching at Christian Tabernacle Academy for 5 years and the rest of my experience has been at the Middle School teaching either special education or regular classes in 6th or 5th grade and now at Lulu Ross Elementary. I have been acknowledged with the highly qualified status as teacher from the district and state.

The class will be exchanging classes for reading with Mrs. W. Corder.  I will be teaching her children math.  We have worked as team teachers for many years and provide the children with high standards in reading and math.  Generally our classes have maintained high scores on the DSTP.

Classroom Management

Within the school day, I have students exchange books from their desks to cubicals at the back of the classroom to prepare for the sixth grade and exchanging classes with many various teachers. My focus is organization and responsibility. The majority of academics flow through the entire day with a large block of time devoted to reading, writing, social studies/science, and math.

A management system using a flip chart will be in place.  This system is utilized by Milford School District and  consists of flip cards ranging from 1st green, 2nd green, yellow (10 min. off recess), and red (loss of entire recess and parent notification).  Along with this system I will use the PBS (Positive Behavior System) and reward appropriate behaviors and choices of students.  This positive ticket system will allow for student to exchange tickets for chances of winning monthly prizes, lunch in the classroom, sitting at the teacher's desk for a day,  game day, assemblies, and other opportunities for fun and pride.
